The information below is provided by Webometrics – the official ranking system for the world’s universities based on a composite indicator that takes into account both the volume of the Web content (number of web pages and files) and the visibility and impact of these web publications according to the number of external inlinks (site citations) they received.
The ranking is published by the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) located in Madrid.
According to the latest list published in July 2020, University of Ibadan, UI was the number one in Nigeria, woefully managing to rank 1249th worldwide.
Covenant University, Ota was the only private university in the top ten, ranking 2nd in Nigeria and 1365th worldwide, beating both University of Nigeria and Obafemi Awolowo University which ranked 3rd and 4th respectively, 1673 and 1728 worldwide respectively.
