The sounds and rhythms of Ghaniain-born Dan Drizzy’s music pulls from both his family’s ties to Nigerian highlife and his years spent in South Africa. Known for his outstanding melodies, arrangements, and songwriting, he’s star on the rise in Ghana and the rest of Western Africa. His new single, “Punani (Pt2),” is a perfectly chilled summer banger — a remake of the original first heard on Drizzy’s breakthrough ‘Business with God’ EP from earlier this year.
While Drizzy incorporates both English and a bit of twi/Yoruba in his hushed delivery, producers UglyOnIt and Trillaman fuse Afro influences with Amapiano sounds in the arrangement, and what results is all at once soothing yet dance-floor ready.
